Every fabric that is manufactured to be put onto a sofa has a cleaning code that goes with it. Make sure to get the cleaning code from your associate to have for future reference.
Cleaning codes:
Cleaning codes are universal and can be googled very easily. for ease, we've listed them below:
W: Water Based Cleaner
Spot clean using the foam only from a water-based cleaning agent such as a mild detergent or non-solvent upholstery shampoo product. Apply foam with a soft brush in a circular motion. Vacuum when dry.
S: Solvent Cleaner
Spot clean using mild water-free solvent or dry cleaning product. Clean only in a well ventilated room and avoid any product containing Carbon Tetrachloride or other toxic materials.
WS: Water / Solvent Cleaner
Spot clean with a mild solvent, an upholstery shampoo or the foam from a mild detergent. When using a solvent or dry cleaning product, follow the instructions carefully and clean only in a well ventilated room. Avoid any product that contains Carbon Tetrachloride or other toxic materials. With either method, pretest a small area before proceeding.
X: Vacuum Only
Clean this fabric only by vacuuming or light brushing to prevent accumulation of dust and grime. Water-based foam cleaners or solvent-based cleaning agents of any kind may cause excessive shrinking, staining or distortion of the surface pile and therefore should not be used.
D: Dry Clean Only
Make sure that you know the leather that's on the piece of furniture you are about to clean! Different leathers call for different cleaners-otherwise, you may have dyes come out that you never intended to happen. We always recommend further research into cleaning leather for accuracy.
Protected leather ( Semi Aniline, Pigmented Leather)
Semi-Aniline and specially pigment protected leather can stand up to heavier use and cleaning than aniline leather. But stay away from products containing ammonia or alkaline, which can damage leather beyond repair. Avoid saddle soap, detergents, oils, furniture polishes, or abrasive materials and always read if it can be used on protected leather.
A simple boxed leather cleaner that is meant for protected/semi-aniline leather works great!
Distilled water on a lightly damp rag will also work. Make sure to clean areas where skin touches the most. Skin naturally breaks down leather ( especially sunscreen) due to the natural oil produced by our skin. When cleaning leather- make sure to use the cleaner on heavily used areas of the furniture piece and use a cleaner on the entire piece ( especially on places where there's a prominent heat source near by).
Commercial leather cleaning brands recommended: Uniters, Leather Master, Leather Magic, etc.
Unprotected Leather (Aniline, Full Aniline, Pull-Up leather)
It has little or no protective coating other than perhaps a dirt-resistant treatment or a wax coating, but it's more sensitive to staining that protected leather. Natural surface grains and markings may be seen on the leather, which can develop a patina over time.
Some furniture makers recommend doing nothing more than dusting unprotected aniline leather with a clean, dry cloth and vacuuming it regularly using a soft brush attachment. Others advise gently wiping the surface with a cloth slightly dampened with distilled water, or cleaning it with an approved cleaner (meant for unprotected leather). The natural look is sensitive to scratching and staining, so take care when cleaning. Consult the manufacturer’s cleaning directions or a leather cleaning professional before using any products, and test them out first on a hidden surface.

You can maintain your sofa using multiple techniques, such as:
Flipping: you should flip cushions and pillows on a regular basis. This is crucial in maintaining the shape and to extend the life of your sofa.
Fluffing: You should fluff cushions and pillows on a regular basis. Take each cushion and push along the cushion surface front to back and side to side to work back into shape.
Regulating: You should regulate cushions if the cover seams are wavy and do not line up with the cushion shape. Unzip the cover and hold the top of the cover by the zipper with one hand. With the other hand reach inside the cover to grab the front of the cushion. Pull in opposite directions to shift the cushion to its correct position inside the cover.
Vacuum upholstery regularly with a soft brush attachment.
For cushions and Pillows that contain feathers and down:
Feathers and down will settle over time and have a more relaxed appearance than a foam cushion. Cushions and pillows that contain feathers and down require more frequent maintenance
Feathers and down may occasionally work their way through the downproof ticking. This is normal and shows that the cushion is "breathing" properly.
